The Tourism Product Development Company Ltd. (TPDCo.) is seeking to identify a qualified, motivated and results-oriented professional to fill the following position:

Data Protection Officer – Management Information Systems (Level 9)
Kingston

Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer, the Data Protection Officer is responsible for monitoring compliance and data practices to ensure the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) and its functions comply with the applicable legislative requirements under the Data Protection Act (2020) in the processing of the personal data of customers, providers or any other individuals (also referred to as data subjects).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management
• Assists with the development of the Strategic Business, Operational and Individual Work Plans,
• Participates in the preparation of the Reports;
• Maintains effective working relations with external and internal clients.
Administrative
• Personal data processed in compliance with established data protection standards;
• Data protection framework developed and implemented in accordance with established standards and guidelines;
• Monitoring and Evaluation framework developed and implemented in accordance with established guidelines;
• Technical reports, reviews and analyses completed within agreed timeframe;

Technical / Professional
• Implement measures and a privacy governance framework to manage data use in compliance with the DPA, including developing templates for data collection, and assisting with data mapping.
• Ensures that the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) processes personal data in compliance with the data protection standards and the Data Protection Act and good practice;
• Liaise with the Office of the Information Commissioner (OIC) to resolve any doubt about how the provisions of the Data Protection Act and any Regulations made thereunder are to be applied;
• Notifies in writing, the Director of Corporate Services/ CIO of any contravention of the data protection standards or any provisions of the Data Protection Act;

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Law, Audit or equivalent qualification from recognized tertiary institution
• Certification in Information Security, Data Protection and/or Privacy Certification such as CIPP, CIPT, ISEB, etc. (preferred)
• Exposure to legal training would be an asset
• Sound knowledge of the Data Protection Act and other applicable data protection policies.
• One (1) year related work experience
